A virtual symposium is an event you can attend from the comfort and convenience of your home, office, or wherever else you have internet access via computer or mobile device.
It's free! There is no cost for participants to register and attend this virtual event.
All sessions will take place in United States Eastern Daylight Time Zone (EDT). We recommend that you verify the time of sessions in your local time zone using an online converter. We've also included a countdown timer beneath each session time so you know exactly how long until the session starts.
You will not need to activate your video or microphone for any of the live sessions you will be watching via the Auditorium (using the Zoom webinar platform). Your involvement in video chat sessions will include use of your microphone and/or camera, at your discretion. Please plan accordingly.
Yes. If you are attending the NNLM Showcase you will be able to claim Medical Library Association (MLA) CE credits.
To obtain credits for the live event, at the end of the symposium, you will receive an email with a link to survey. Clicking that will take you to a REDCap evaluation page. After you’ve completed the evaluation, you will see the steps you can take to earn Medical Library Association (MLA) CE credits.
This symposium is designed for professional librarians of all types, health professionals, researchers, both new and experienced, and students interested in community engagement and research.
All attendees must follow the NNLM Code of Conduct. Violations of the NNLM Code of Conduct may be reported via this form and may be submitted anonymously. Violators may be removed from the symposium, removed/suspended from NNLM programs for a period of time, or face permanent removal from the NNLM.
No, meeting registration and virtual platform login credentials should not be transferred. Instead, please encourage others to register for this free event.
No, you have the freedom to pick the sessions you would like to attend.
Attendees will able to get a Medical Library Association (MLA) Continuing Education (CE) Certificate for attending the symposium. An evaluation link will be provided at the end of the last keynote presentation. Upon completion of the evaluation, you will receive details on how to obtain your Medical Library Association (MLA) CE certificate.
Yes. If you are attending the NNLM Showcase Virtual Symposium live you will be able to claim Medical Library Association (MLA) CE credits. No, you do not need a webcam to attend virtual events.
Yes! You can keep up even when you’re on the go via any mobile or tablet device with an internet connection. There is no app to download.
Zoom is a free online video conferencing platform. You do not need to download the Zoom application to participate. However, some features may not be accessible unless you are using the Zoom application.
Once logged into the virtual platform, you will see an icon with your name on the upper right-hand side of the screen. Click the drop down arrow and choose “Edit Profile” to update your information or add a headshot. Please note that your profile will be visible to all attendees.
You can access each session via the ‘Auditorium’ tab in the top navigation bar. Once you have entered the Auditorium, click on the big screen at the front of the room to access the list of sessions. A button to join the session will appear 5 minutes prior to the session start.
We will make every effort to obtain the slide deck. After they are reviewed for accessibility, they will either be made available in the auditorium as a handout following the descriptions for each session.
Yes, the presentation recordings will be available for 30 days following the conclusion of the virtual symposium on the nnlm.vfairs.com. Beyond the 30 days, videos will be available on the NNLM YouTube Channel.
All sessions will have live captioning. Use the CC option on the Zoom bar to turn on captioning when using your desktop computer to view the session. Closed Captioning will automatically display when using your mobile device.
Your feedback is very important to us! There is a “session feedback” button next to each session description in the auditoriums. Please take a minute to let us know how we did. An evaluation will be made available at the end of each day for attendees for overall feedback on the event.
Yes. Look for the “Add to Calendar” button following the session description in the Auditorium session listing.
Yes. Live sessions in the auditoriums include a ink to access live captioning. Pre-recorded sessions have embedded captions.

Visit the NNLM website to see a list of available classes. Classes are available asynchronous and synchronously on Moodle LMS and via Webinar on WebEx or Zoom platforms.
